The holidays are a time for family, friends, and delicious food. And what better way to celebrate than with a honey glazed ham on your holiday dinner table? Ham is a classic Thanksgiving dish for good reason. It’s flavorful, juicy, and versatile. It’s also very easy to cook. 1. Ingredients
This recipe requires only a few ingredients.
You will need: a spiral ham, brown sugar, honey, dark corn syrup and ground cloves.
2. Baking the Honey Glazed Ham
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Place ham in a baking dish and cover with aluminum foil. Allow your ham to bake for 20 minutes then remove the foil.
3. Making the Honey Glaze
To make the glaze, in a saucepan over medium heat, combine th honey, corn syrup, brown sugar, and cloves. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer until sugar is dissolved.
4. Basting the Ham
After 20 minutes, remove ham from the oven and baste with your prepared glaze. Return the ham to the oven and bake for another hour, basting every 20 minutes.
It is important to choose a good quality ham. When selecting, look for a ham that is well-marbled and has good color. Try to avoid hams that are too pale or too brown. Make sure to bake your ham until it reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit. This will ensure that the ham is cooked through and juicy. Lastly, remember that the key to a great tasting ham is basting. Basting will make your ham juicy and delicious.
