Ingredients
- 1-1/2 lbs Flap Steak
- 2 tsps Cornstarch
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
- 2 Tbsps Water
- 1 stalk Ginger (sliced)
- 4 Scallions
- 1/2 Cup Red Onion
- 1 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 4 Tbsps Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 2 Tbsps Cooking Wine
- 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Water
- 1 tsp White Pepper
- Vegetable Oil
Method
- Slice the beef into bite size pieces then season add the cornstarch, baking soda, and white pepper. Mix until well coated.
- Add 2 tablespoons of water and mix well. In a separate bowl, combine 1/2 cup of water, soy sauce and oyster sauce and mix well.
- Cut your onion, scallions and ginger then set them aside. In a wok, deep fry the beef for one minute then remove it and most of your oil from the pan (leaving about 3 tablespoons of oil).
- Sauté your ginger for one minute then add the onion and half of the scallions and continue to sauté for another minute.
- Return the beef to the pan and cook for two minutes then add the sauce and brown sugar.
- Allow your sauce to reduce by one third and has thickened.
- Add the remaining scallion and mix well.
- Add the wine and sesame oil and cook for an additional minute then it is ready to serve.
