Ghost Pepper Wings Recipe

These ghost pepper fried chicken wings are made for true spice lovers. The wings are marinated in buttermilk, dredged in a fiery seasoned flour mixture with ghost peppers, cayenne, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper, then fried until golden, crispy, and full of bold flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound chicken wings
  • 3 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 6 to 12 ghost chili peppers
  • Canola oil for frying

Method
 

  1. Pour the buttermilk over the chicken wings in a large bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
  2. Remove the stems from the ghost peppers and grind in a food processor. Transfer to a small dish.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the flour, ground ghost pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.
  4. Remove the chicken from the refrigerator. Dredge each wing in the seasoned flour mixture and place on a wire rack.
  5. Heat the canola oil to 375 degrees.
  6. Fry the wings for 12 minutes until golden and crispy.
  7. Remove from the oil and serve hot.
