Homemade Peach Cobbler Recipe: A Sweet Southern Classic

Marry Me Peach Cobbler is a good Old Fashioned peach cobbler like grandma used to make. It is made with juicy fresh peaches, and topped in a crispy homemade crust. This "from scratch" summer classic dessert is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Ingredients
  

  • 10 Peaches
  • ½ Cup Granulated Sugar
  • ½ Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • tsp Nutmeg
  • 2 tsps Cornstarch
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice
  • For the Crust:
  • 1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • ¼ Cup Granulated Sugar
  • ¼ Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 6 Tbsps Butter (cold)
  • ¼ Cup Water (warm)
  • Brown Sugar to garnish

Method
 

  1. Wash, dry and slice your peaches.
  2. Place the peaches in a large bowl then add the lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cornstarch. Mix until well combined and all of the peach wedges have been coated.
  3. Transfer the coated peaches to your baking dish and bake for 30 minutes.
  4. To make the crust, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix until well combined.
  5. Add the cold butter, then using a pastry blender or fork, cut your butter into the flour mixture.
  6. Add the warm water and continue cutting until blended. Remove your peaches from the oven and top with evenly divided pieces of your crust
  7. Sprinkle brown sugar on top, then return your cobbler to the oven and cook for an additional 30 minutes.

  • If fresh peaches are not available, you can use frozen or canned peaches. Just be certain to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
