Old Fashioned Tea Cakes Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 3 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1-1/2 Cups Sugar
  • 1 Cup Butter
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp Almond Extract
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  2. Make sure the eggs and butter are room temperature before using.
  3. Using a stand mixer cream together the sugar and butter. Add the eggs one at a time.
  4. Add the baking powder then slowly incorporate the flour.
  5. Add the nutmeg, almond extract and vanilla extract and mix until well incorporated and has a dough like consistency.
  6. Flour a clean surface then using a rolling pin, roll out your dough.
  7. Using a glass or a cookie cutter cut out your tea cakes.
  8. Place them on a baking sheet then transfer to the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes.
  9. After 20 minutes remove from the oven and allow them to sit for 5 minutes.
  10. After 5 minutes they are ready to serve.
